What to Do If a Man Finishes Too Fast

A guide for a partner: how to support a man without pressure, without taking on the role of a doctor, and without making your own diagnosis. What actually helps and what makes things worse.

Updated:

If your man regularly finishes too fast, he is probably uncomfortable talking about it. Most men carry this problem alone because shame keeps them silent. Your reaction matters - not as "psychological help," but simply in what you say and do. Pressure, comparison, or jokes almost always make the problem worse because they add anxiety, and anxiety physically speeds up the finish. Silent acceptance without conversation is not the best answer either - he may keep rushing out of fear that you "noticed." This article is about what really helps.

Четыре столпа Метода Журова: осознанность, дыхание, расслабление и управление
Метод держится на четырёх столпах: сначала мужчина замечает процесс, потом учится дышать, расслаблять тело и управлять возбуждением до ПОНР.

In short

  • Rapid ejaculation is a behavioral pattern that can be trained. It does not mean that "something is wrong with him," and it is not a reflection of how he feels about you.
  • Pressure, jokes, and comparisons with other men increase shame and anxiety, and those physically speed up the finish.
  • One calm conversation without blame lowers pressure more than any technique.
  • You do not need to become his coach or doctor. This is his path. Your role is partner, not supervisor.
  • Sex without a race for minutes is already a training condition in itself.

What not to do: reactions that make it worse

Do not laugh, joke, or use irony, even if it seems like a way to lighten the mood. For a man, this often lands as confirmation of his fear: "she noticed, she is judging me." That adds shame, which physically speeds up the next episode.

Do not compare him with exes or hint that "other men are not like this." It does not motivate - it humiliates. Humiliation adds stress, and stress lowers the threshold of the ejaculatory reflex.

Do not jump in with advice such as "have you tried breathing / thinking about something else / squeezing?" Even if the advice sounds good, in a moment of shame he will often hear it as criticism. That conversation belongs in a calm moment, not during sex.

What helps: simple things that work

First, remove pressure around the result. If sex turns into an exam of "how many minutes," the man enters anxiety before anything starts, and anxiety physically speeds up the finish. When the focus shifts to contact, closeness, and pleasure - not time - the body relaxes. Relaxation opens the leak in the Bottle. That does not guarantee a delayed finish, but it creates better conditions for management.

Second, have one conversation outside sex. No medical language, no evaluation: "I want both of us to feel good. If anything helps or makes it harder, tell me. I am here." That lifts a huge weight of silence.

Third, bring flexibility into sex. Suggest not focusing only on penetration. Other kinds of closeness, a different speed, play without the goal of a finish - these are not replacements but an expansion of contact. And that in itself lowers the pressure with which a man enters sex.

If he is training: how to support him

If a man is following a training path, that is a good sign. He is working on it. Your task is not to become the manager of his progress by checking whether he did the exercises or asking "so how is it going" after every practice. That is just pressure in another form.

The best support is to create conditions: no race, no judgment, and a willingness to pause and return when needed. Simply knowing that you are not the judge already removes half the anxiety.

Sometimes a man will want to talk about what he noticed in practice. Listen as a partner, not as an expert. "That is interesting" is often better than "and what does that mean?"

If you yourself feel unsatisfied

That matters too. Your needs are real. If sex regularly ends too quickly and it leaves you wanting more, it is normal to say so. The key is to make it a conversation about contact rather than a judgment of the man.

There is a difference between "You are always too fast" and "I like it when we stay close longer. How can we create that together?" The first is an attack. The second is an invitation. The second is where something good can grow.

An important point: the Zhurov Method is an educational skill-training system, not treatment. We do not replace doctors. If there are medical symptoms, the next step is a urologist. That is a normal adult step.

First step for 7 days

  • Find one quiet moment in the next few days - not after sex, but in a calm space - for a short conversation without judgment.
  • Try having sex once without thinking about minutes at all. Put the focus on contact and sensation and notice how that changes the atmosphere.
  • If you want to help but do not know how, say it directly: "I do not know how to help, but I want to. What do you need?" That is better than guessing.
  • Give him space for his training. Do not demand reports or monitor progress. Just stay beside him as a partner.

Common questions

Is he finishing fast because of me?

Most likely, no. PE is a stable nervous-system pattern that has usually been forming for years. Sometimes a new partner increases fear of judgment, and that can accelerate the finish. But it is not your fault - it is work he can do.

Should I offer help or wait?

You can mark it once: "If you want to talk, or if anything helps, I am here." After that, wait without pressure. Most men want to walk this path themselves, but it matters to know they are not being judged.

What if he does not want to change anything?

That is his right. You cannot force someone to train a skill. You can speak about your needs, you can make an offer, but you cannot pressure him. If the gap in needs is too large, that becomes a conversation about compatibility, not technique.

Is this medical treatment?

An important point: the Zhurov Method is an educational skill-training system, not treatment. We do not replace doctors. If a man has acute physical pain, inflammation, or other medical symptoms, start with a urologist. That is a normal adult step for a man, and we can train attention management and relaxation in parallel.
